First Time Climber?

Is it okay if I’ve never climbed before?

Absolutely! A lot of people try climbing for the first time and love it after their first route. The fun is in trying out something that you’ve never done before. It’s a different kind of workout from running or lifting weights.

What do I need?

  • A positive attitude!

  • Sign the safety waiver prior to arrival. Everyone who will be entering the gym will need to have a waiver completed, regardless of whether they are climbing or not.

  • Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing

  • Climbing shoes and chalk (if you own your own). Otherise, we have shoes available for rental. Please bring your own socks.

Do you have classes for beginners?

We hold a weekly class geared for beginners on Fridays at 6:30p. Sign ups are available on our event calendar. This class is free for EFT members, and has a small fee for non-members. However, some climbers learn simply by climbing. Climbing offers instant feedback and encourages body awareness, and most people still have fun without instruction. Give it a shot!

Are children allowed?

Definitely, however, they must be under direct supervision of a guardian, with no more than three children per adult. Those ages 14 and under will need a guardian present. We recommend age five and up, but if you think your little climber is ready for the big wall, please come on in!
