First Time Climber?

Is it okay if I’ve never climbed before?
Absolutely! A lot of people try climbing for the first time and love it after their first route. The fun is in trying out something that you’ve never done before. It’s a different kind of workout from running or lifting weights.
What do I need?
A positive attitude!
Sign the safety waiver prior to arrival. Everyone who will be entering the gym will need to have a waiver completed, regardless of whether they are climbing or not.
Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing
Climbing shoes and chalk (if you own your own). Otherise, we have shoes available for rental. Please bring your own socks.
Do you have classes for beginners?
We hold a weekly class geared for beginners on Fridays at 6:30p. Sign ups are available on our event calendar. This class is free for EFT members, and has a small fee for non-members. However, some climbers learn simply by climbing. Climbing offers instant feedback and encourages body awareness, and most people still have fun without instruction. Give it a shot!

Are children allowed?
Definitely, however, they must be under direct supervision of a guardian, with no more than three children per adult. Those ages 14 and under will need a guardian present. We recommend age five and up, but if you think your little climber is ready for the big wall, please come on in!
